Work Study

What is the Work Study Program?

The Work Study program allows campers ages 14 to 17 to come to Lake Owen as a camper and work in exchange for a reduced tuition rate of $345.00.  (This is the amount that you will pay per week, if chosen.)  Work Study campers work for approximately 5 hours each day, but still have instructional sessions and some recreational time.  Work Study participants are still considered to be campers; therefore they are able to make roommate requests and are required to follow all camper rules.

What kind of work will I be doing?

We hire Work Study campers to assist in the kitchen and to assist with cleaning the gyms.  Those chosen to help in the kitchen will be assigned a specific duty for the week; such as dishwashing, serving or helping in the grills.  Campers hired to assist with cleaning the gyms will be doing things such as sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down mats, etc.

What do I need to do to be considered?

Work Study campers are chosen through an application process.  Applications must be submitted by March 16, 2012.   We will inform you by mail whether or not you were given a position.  Due to the popularity of the program, we are unable to offer positions to everyone who applies.  Letters will be mailed out after April 9, 2012.
